Lisbon is often overlooked as a city break destination, when in fact it's an ideal place to visit, particularly if you are on a budget. It was officially named as Western Europe's least expensive capital city.
Being on a similar latitude to Athens, the climate is generally very good with mild winter temperatures and beautiful summers, so it's also an ideal year-round city break. If that hasn't convinced you, then the hundreds of activities, including sightseeing, surfing and dolphin watching, surely will.
Lisbon is just a 2hr and 40min flight from the UK with both scheduled and low-cost airlines offering flights from across the UK.
Getting from the airport into the city is best done by bus or taxi. A bus ticket costs only €1.35, whilst you can expect to pay around €15 for a taxi into Lisbon.
Lisbon is a relatively small city, so ideal for exploring on foot, however, buses and trams are also a great option.
